National Honor Society

The National Honor Society is an organization in which the membership consists of intelligent, well-rounded, high school student leaders whose integrity and commitment to the edification of their community and school are evident and tangible.

NHSis a privilege bestowed upon students by the faculty, not an inherent right. Membership in NHS connotes willingness to:

  • Create enthusiasm for Scholarship

  • Stimulate a desire to render Service

  • Promote Leadership

  • Develop Character

What qualifications are necessary to become a member of NHS?

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher

  • Upstanding Character

  • Continuous tangible evidence of service and leadership in grades 9-12

  • Membership in at least 2 extra-curricular activities per year for grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 Extra-curricular activities may be those that take place either inside or outside of school.

Meeting the requirements for attendance (same as Renaissance):

  • No more than 2 unexcused latenesses and 2 unexcused absences per marking period

  • Late is late: the amount of minutes late does not matter 5 latenesses = 1 absence (only matters if you have 7 absences and 5,6,or 7 latenesses)

  • Late today, stay today policy

NHS Timeline 2024-25 School Year

10/10: Applications due by 2:35 PM to room 106. No extensions.

10/23: The Faculty Council will meet to vote

10/28: Student notices will go out

11/18: Induction practice after school

11/19: Induction Ceremony @ 6:30pm
