STUDENTS AND PARENTS
New Jersey's Interdistrict Public School Choice Program enables approved choice districts to enroll students who do not reside within their districts without cost to their parents. The program increases educational opportunities for students and their families by providing students with school options outside of their district of residence and giving parents the power to select a school program that best serves their child's individual needs.
The Public School Choice Program benefits students and parents, as well as the choice districts. Choice programs might have smaller class sizes, increased instructional time, and a school culture more conducive to a student's success in school. Many choice districts have established specialized and innovative programs and courses that focus on areas such as art, music, foreign languages, and technology, and are open to students who demonstrate an interest in the special programs. Opening enrollment to students outside the district can bring in more students interested in taking advantage of these special programs and courses, allowing both the programs and students to grow and flourish.
We are currently accepting applications for the 2024- 2025 school year.
Students presently in grades 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 are eligible to apply for admission to one of three programs in Collingswood for the 2024-2025 school year:
The Mass Media & Communications Academy at Collingswood High School. The Academy students will attend Collingswood High School and are provided experience in Mass Media -television and video production, digital photography, and graphic arts, and Communications – public speaking, broadcasting and script writing, all at no cost to the student! Academy seats, open to resident students of Collingswood as well as choice students, will be made available through an application and interview process. The same criteria will be applied to both resident and choice students. Students accepted to the Academy will be given a specialized media and communications education where academic teachers team up with the technical arts departments to offer a complete and thorough program that will prepare you for future study in the area of communications. Students may take advantage of honor classes as well as Advanced Placement classes if they desire.
The General School Choice Program at Collingswood High School. Students accepted to this program will have the opportunity to participate in challenging academic classes and a host of athletic and co-curricular activities. Collingswood High School offers a smaller school environment with almost limitless opportunities to participate in school life beyond the school day. A modified block schedule ensures that students have the opportunity to develop skills and master content at levels deeper than ever before. An academic support program is also available to all students after school.
The General School Choice Program at Collingswood Middle School. Collingswood Middle School invites students entering grades 6, 7, or 8 to enroll under a general Interdistrict Public School Choice program. Collingswood Middle School offers the benefits and feel of a small school with the opportunities associated with much larger middle schools. In addition to rigorous academic work, students may participate in a host of athletic and co-curricular activities, including marching band and a school musical. A modified block schedule ensures that students have the opportunity to develop skills and master content at levels deeper than ever before.
